Module 03 · Ordering

Daily menu with pre-ordering: the kitchen knows how much to cook

The daily menu changes every day while the fixed offer stays — and the system handles both: menu item groups, à la carte items and an availability toggle. With pre-ordering you can see what's in demand before lunch, not at half past twelve at the serving hatch.

Who it is for

For canteens, set-menu restaurants and office-building kitchens where half the day happens between 12 and 1. It pays off most where the weekly menu is set in advance but the portion count is a surprise every single day, and both leftovers and shortages cost money.

How it works

  1. You load the weekly menu in groups

The daily menu is built from menu item groups: soup, main, side, dessert, paired differently each day, alongside the à la carte offer. What you've entered once you reuse next time, so Monday's menu doesn't have to be retyped every week.

  2. The guest orders ahead

With pre-ordering, the guest tells you before the lunch rush what they want. You don't have to guess the portion count — you work from the orders that have already come in, and buy in accordingly.

  3. The menu goes out, ordering opens

The daily menu can go out as a scheduled push or email and can be posted to the venue's own feed. Automatic daily menu send-out is in development; until then a scheduled campaign does the same job.

What you get out of it

  • A more predictable kitchen

You can see the pre-ordered portion counts in advance, so there's less waste and fewer shortages. A sold-out item comes off the offer with one toggle, even mid-service, so no new orders land on it.

  • A lunch peak that spreads out

Whoever ordered ahead isn't deciding in the queue. Serving speeds up and part of the noon jam moves into the calmer minutes. And a regular can repeat yesterday's lunch in two taps.

  • Daily menu and à la carte in one place

Next to the daily offer the full range is available too, in the same menu, with the same options, allergens and nutrition values.

  • Lunch is a loyalty event as well

A returning lunch guest is your best regular: the order counts towards their tier and their cashback, and paying with topped-up credit is faster at the hatch.

Frequently asked questions

  • How much daily work is it to load the menu?

Once the menu item groups exist, putting a day together takes a few minutes: you pick what's on today and switch availability on. We go through the first upload together during the setup week, in one pass with the rewards and the top-up tiers.

  • What about someone who didn't pre-order?

They can order on the spot exactly as before: from their phone or at the kiosk, from the same menu. Pre-ordering is an option, not a condition — the point is to move part of the peak earlier, not to shut anyone out of lunch.

  • How does a canteen guest pay?

With topped-up credit, by card, with Apple Pay or Google Pay, and they can also top up in cash at the counter, so the cash-paying guest isn't left out. SZÉP-kártya payment is a planned feature; we can talk about its rollout in the assessment.

  • Does it work across several sites?

Yes: several venues fit under one account, each with its own menu, its own daily offer and its own feed. Permission levels mean everyone edits only their own kitchen's menu, while you can still see the numbers centrally, broken down per venue.
